As someone who is currently using a LAB balanced Putter and a Line only because I keep trying different things. This would mean I am using Path aware tools because the golf world is driving everyone to big grips (which I hate) and face balanced. If I were face aware this is totally the wrong approach. How does one determine their natural tendency?
Hi Robb, Totally subjective. That you are aware of the contradictions is the start. There is reason you dislike big grips for example.
Do you have a miss tendency left or right with the LAB putter? If so that might be an indication you use the torque or position of the face to judge the strike. For example if you tend to open the face beyind the requirement of the arc you might miss right with the LAB. Left might indicate you close the face. Now you have a choice. Find a way to reduce the rotation tendency or find a putter that enhances the feel of the tendency. You will find supporters of both methods, or someone like me who has no preferecne other than to match you up.
Not really. Trying to be both is obviously more complicated. Depends on your skill level and rotation pattern. If your rotation pattern is not consistent to your path, you might trend toward face aware. If your stroke plane shafts during your stroke you would trend toward face aware.
Hi Chris. Definitely. Just twice as much information to decipher. Most of the time we look to simplify.

I forgot a drill. If you can aim away from the target at address and still hit a ball on line you are face aware.
You're always posting interesting content that makes me think about my stroke and putting in general.
As I read through the the face and path aware articles I feel like I have some traits of both; should players try to be all of one or the other?
